The early potatoes are going in today.
The seed potatoes have been chitted nicely. The variety I have chosen is Colleen .. at least to start with. The Charlotte potatoes are currently sitting on the windowsill at home doing their sprouting work. I will need around twenty four to get two rows.
Half of the allotment has been done now, more or less: it has been turned over and cleaned up now. That is probably around 4 weekends and 20 hours work so far.
Today’s work was around 3 hours (yesterday was around the same), but the sun was out; there were a few butterflies fluttering around, the birds were tweeting and the Sunday choir was singing in the village church.
I expect the rest of the allotment to start soon. There were probably 5 people dotting in and around today. For now it looks like I am the only person planting.
