And so tonight, finally, I made my beetroot soup. I didn’t finish it last night: it took too long in the oven and by 10 o’clock it was only just making it into the pan, much too late to eat.
Tonight is a different story. I got some oven ready bread at lunch time; I put the bread in the oven for 15 minutes; heated up the soup; whizzed it with the blender; and finally — it was nice — I had it for my tea.
The first produce from the allotment to make it to my dinner plate (I’m not counting the rhubarb puddings!).
